Currency: The currency used in Greenland is Danish Krone (DKK). The exchange rate (July 2007) Danish kroner per US dollar 5.45 DKK. All major credit cards are accepted in all banks and most hotels. In stores only DanKort and VISA are accepted. A few stores accept MasterCards.

Clothing: What to wear depends on what time year you are planning to visit Greenland. During the summer an inner wind-stopper fleece and an outer layer wind and water resistant shell is practical. A good pair of water resistant boot and a mosquito net is required.

During the winter months the temperature plummets to far below zero. A down parka, insulated pants, gloves and hats are required. As well as a pair of insulated boots. Be aware of the chill factor as wind speeds rise, it can cause frostbites in just minutes on unprotected skin.

Health care: Acute treatment in hospitals and dentists is free. If you are taking any prescription medicine, make sure to bring it on the trip. Travel health insurance is generally recommended. No vaccine is required for entering Greenland.

Passport: Passport is required. Citizens of America does not require visa for stays shorter that 3 month.

Electricity: The standard voltage is 220 Volts like most countries in Europe. So if you arriving from the United States, make sure you bring an adaptor.

Internet: Most hotels offer internet access. Internet hotspots in public places are only offered a very few places. Greenland is suffering under a communication monopoly resulting in one of the worlds highest internet access and mobile phone rates.

Telephone: Greenland has a very good domestic and international telephone communication service system provided by cable, microwave radio relay and satellite. The country code is -299. Be aware that cellular coverage is restricted to cover only populated areas.

Language: The language is Greenlandic. In major towns Danish is widely used as well. Generally the young generation does understand and speak English very well too.
