Welcome to Nuuk
The world’s northernmost capital, with a population of 14.500. Founded by Hans Egede in 1728 and named Godthåb, now Nuuk. The house of Hans Egede still stands today. The buildings of the National Museum is from that period too. They can all be found in the old district of the city.
Some of the worlds oldest rock formation can be found in the fjord close to Nuuk.
The Nuuk fjord is perfect for fishing, whale spotting or just to enjoy the nature. A small settlement Kapisillit is located far in the fjord close to the ice-cap glaciers and is worth a trip by boat or ship.
Helicopter tours from Nuuk to the ice-cap is another great experience that you wouldn’t miss. The helicopter will land on the ice-cap and stop for some time, so you can get out on the ice-cap.
