Qaanaaq

Welcome to Qaanaaq (Thule)

 

Qaanaaq the worlds northernmost municipality and largest in Greenland and in the world, also called Thule. The settlement was in 1953 forced to move further north to give room for the American Thule Air Base.

Qaanaaq has a little over 600 inhabitants, mainly hunters. They hunt by boats during the summer period and by dogsled in the winter.
