Qaqortoq
The biggest town in south Greenland. Qaqortoq means “the white”. It was founded as a trading post in 1775 by Anders Olsen and named Julianehaab. 
The town has almost 3.400 inhabitants. Qaqortoq is well known for the hot spings Uunartoq south of the town. The town is south Greenland’s largest educational center. The town also has two museums and two churches.

Great Greenland Furhouse
The famous Great Greenland Furhouse is placed in Qaqortoq and is worth a visit. Factory tours are arranged by the local tourist office. The furhouse was established in 1977 and their product are sold worldwide.

Welcome to Qaqortoq, often called the most beautiful town in Greenland. A unique town in south Greenland in an area dominated by beautiful green fjords and many huge icebergs in the summertime. The town has a combination of old houses from the 1700 and modern houses in all colors, many with nicely kept gardens.

An agricultural experimental station just a few miles from Qaqortoq where they grow different kinds of plants, crops and trees.

Upernaviarsuk also houses an agricultural school for students of farming.

The Hvalsey church ruin is located in the beautiful Qaqortoq fjord in south Greenland just 12 nautical miles from Qaqortoq town.

The church was build around year 1300 by the Norse culture. The church is build of ashlar stone.

A small settlement at the end of Igaliko Fjord in south Greenland. Igaliko was founded in 1783 by Anders Olsen a norwegian settler. Descendants still live in Igaliko to this day.

Narsaq meaning “Plain” was founded in 1830 as a trading colony and is located in the Tunulliarfik Fjord. Ancient ruins are still visible around the town. Erik the Red settled close by in Brattahlíð further in the fjord.
